Winter Activities That Don’t Break the Bank

February is here, which means we are that much closer to spring! There are still several weeks left, though, and if you are like many of us here at the Indy Property Source, you hate the idea of being cooped up in the house all winter!

Here is a list of ideas for fun family activities to take part in this winter that get you out of the house, but also keep you out of the cold. The best part? Many of these activities are FREE!

Holliday Nature Park Center – This 1,300 square foot indoor nature center in Indy features discovery-based activities for kids of all ages, including a bird feeding station and a library. Best of all, it’s free!

The Commons of Columbus, IN – Feel like making a drive? Take a trip to Columbus to experience the James A. Henderson Playground and The Luckey Climber. Open 7 days a week, The Commons has areas for toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children. Oh, and this one is free too!

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis – If you live in Indiana, you likely know about the Children’s Museum and that it offers a variety of exhibits that are fun for both children and adults! But did you know that the first Thursday of every month has admission for only $5 per person? Visit between 4:00 and 8:00 pm for this deal! In addition, the museum has four free days each year, including President’s Day, coming up this month. With exhibits that regularly update to new ones, this is a great place to visit both during the winter and the warmer months too!

Trader’s Point Indoor Playground – Located in Whitestown, this free playground is located inside Trader’s Point Christian Church. The large play area features a rock climbing wall, various slides, two small basketball courts, and a trampoline. Take a virtual tour of the park HERE.

Indoor Picnic with Movie – Don’t feel like leaving the house? Enjoy a movie and lunch in the comfort of your own home! Make it even more fun for the kids by getting out all the pillows and blankets you can muster to build a fort. Fix a quick and easy lunch and enjoy a nice family movie together!
